PTA's Mission

PTA...just what is this 100+ year old organization about? Well, the acronym stands for Parent Teacher Association. Its main mission is to positively impact the lives of all children and their families, by focusing on raising the standards of home life, ensure that adequate laws protect and care for our children and youth, to provide a close atmosphere in which parents and teachers can cooperatively educate the children of our future and provide the utmost in a well rounded education. If you grew up back in the day, it was really cool to have your parents volunteer in the PTA. It was the "in-thing" to be involved and believe it or not, that "in-thing" has never changed! It is real cool to have a bumper sticker on your car that reads "PTA." It means that you really care about kids, not just your child, but everyone else's. You care what happens to them at school and at home, and not just your home.

Dixie Canyon's PTA is no different than the PTAs of yesteryear. We are a dynamic group of parents, teachers and families who still believe that a well-rounded education is paramount in this ever-changing world, even if we have to help provide it during these challenging economic times. There is no stone that goes unturned at Dixie. I am calling on ALL parents, teachers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, the circle of friends and local businesses to join us as we embark on a new year of raising the next generations to come. It is our work that our children will be proud of. This year's motto is PTA... connected for kids. Let's do our best to connect for all of these kids. They deserve a PTA that is hungry for change, where everyone is celebrated. They deserve a PTA that is full in numbers and won't be defeated by the economy. I look forward to working beside you.
